This workshop covered the neuroscience of chronic stress, the gifts of acute stress and how to stay on the performance edge of stress. During the seminar we learned some quick tools for transforming stress into a friendly superpower and how to identify early signs of the enemy face of stress. The seminar was taught by Kari Sulenes, PsyD with a background in organizational behavior.

It focused on the aspects of competitiveness, and how to use technological innovation and economy of scale to survive on the commodity-based market full of multibillion-dollar incumbents. The seminar was taught by Wojciech Osowiecki, a PhD candidate in chemistry at UC Berkeley.

The event showcased the state of the technologies for profitable carbon removal and provided an overview of the status quo of carbon solutions, followed by lightning talks of entrepreneurs working with carbon solutions and investors funding the development of the field.

Together with Impact.Tech, Fifty Years hosted a deep dive seminar on synthetic biology. Introduction to Synthetic Biology seminar was an introduction to the world of biology, biotechnology and synthetic biology. We started with an input/output approach to biological systems, then explained where biological molecules come from and how they perform such a wide variety of functions. We learned how these very same properties of native cell function allow us to probe, manipulate, and modify cell function. We discussed state of the art industry applications, such as the ability of biological systems to produce a vast variety of chemicals including fuels, biomaterials, food and drugs.
